and, while this may seem like a bit of a minor thing, I’ve decided to put up a Facebook status to celebrate. I put a bit of thought into this decision because I typically put my sexuality on the back burner; literally everyone is on a need-to-know basis. This isn’t because I’m ashamed, but rather because I don’t think sexuality is relevant to the vast majority of interactions I experience daily and it is easier for me (in a personal, mental-management kind-of-way) to just keep it off the table.
However, I’m starting to realize that there is some value in openly expressing my sexuality, both on a personal level and in the broader scheme of things, so I’m going to try it out and see what that feels like for me. And, hell, it’s my day to celebrate, so I’m going to!
